Open-ended Straight Draw – A Popular Poker Drawing Hand

Most often used in poker, the term open-ended straight draw refers to a sequence of four cards of consecutive ranks.

In other words, the player who has an open-ended straight draw can complete a straight from either end of their sequence. This is opposite to an inside straight draw or a one-ended straight draw.

For example, if you have 6, 7 and the community board reads 5, 8, K after the flop, you have an open-ended straight draw, as either a 4 or a 9 on the turn or river will help you line up a straight and potentially outdraw on your opponent.
