George Meaning – A Casino Lingo for a Generous Tipper
If you’ve tipped a dealer or anyone on the casino floor and they’ve called you George, don’t get offended thinking that they’ve messed up your name. In the gambling lingo, a George is a person who tips generously.
This is one of very old gambling terms that derives from the dollar bill, which has George Washington on it. Tipping one dollar half a century ago was on the very generous side of the scale.
