Rake Meaning – Money the House Takes for Organizing Poker Games
The rake is a fee that the casino charges the players for letting them play a particular casino game in their venue.
This term is mostly associated with poker, as in this game, players are not wagering against the house, so the casino can’t make any money the usual way.
There are a handful of ways casinos charge these fees, with the most common one involving them taking a small portion of every pot.
In most casinos, the rake is often around five to ten percent of the pot’s value each hand. Usually, there’s also a maximum rake amount, especially in high-stakes poker games.
