Deck Penetration Meaning – Blackjack Term Used by Card Counters

Deck penetration refers to the number of cards that the dealer cuts off relative to the number of cards still left to be dealt out. This term is mostly used in blackjack.

For example, if 28 cards have been dealt out from a standard 52-card deck, the deck penetration in this situation is 54%.

Deck penetration is not very important to most beginner blackjack players. However, it is crucial for advanced players who employ card counting techniques.

When the deck percentage is bigger, you can more accurately count the cards that still remain in the deck.
