Downswing Description – Going Through Rough Patches in Gambling
A downswing is a gambling term primarily used in poker. It refers to a prolonged stretch of losing sessions over a certain period.
A downswing doesn’t necessarily have a rigid timeline, as it can be shorter or longer depending on the player.
That said, if a poker player loses five or more sessions in a row, they could say they’re going through a downswing.
Downswings are inevitable in poker and happen to even the best players in the world. There’s no definitive full-proof strategy of how to get out of a downswing, except for pushing through it and being willing to move down in stakes if necessary.
