Going South Meaning – Taking Chips Off the Table in Cash Games
The term going south refers to the situation in which a poker player removes their chips from the table in an attempt to reduce their stake.
Often, a player that’s going south tries to do so under the radar and remove the chips without anyone noticing.
Needless to say, going south is considered very poor poker etiquette and puts the player on a fast track to becoming the most disliked person at the table.
Profesoional poker rooms strictly prohibit doing so. Going south is also known as ratholing
