Kicker Meaning – Side Card Used to Determine a Winner in Some Situations
The term “kicker” is mostly used in poker and refers to the highest unpaired card not included in the winning combination.
The kicker is used to determine the winner of a poker game when there’s a draw.
For example, let’s say that you have an A, Q hand while your opponent has an A, 10 hand. The community board reads A, 9, 7, 4, 2.
While both you and your opponent have the same pair, you win the round, because you have the kicker, as your unpaired Q is better than their unpaired 10.
