Nuts Meaning – The Best Possible Poker Hand in a Given Situation
The most common meaning of the word nuts is the one referring to the best poker hand possible.
When a player holds a nut hand, it means that they have an unbeatable combination.
The nut doesn’t necessarily mean that the player has the best-ranked cards (Ace, King), but that their hand is the strongest based on the situation on the board.
For example, let’s say that one player has an 8, 9 hand and the other one has a 9, J hand. The board after the flop reads 6, 7, 10, meaning that the first player holds the nuts in that situation. However, if an 8 comes on the turn, then the second player has the nut hand.
