River Meaning – A Nickname for Final Card in Poker Games
The term “river” is mostly used in different poker variants when referring to the last community card that the dealer puts on the board.
The river follows the flop and the turn. The river card is also commonly known as “fifth street.”
For example, a typical game of Texas Hold’em poker would start with the dealer dealing two cards to each player.
This is followed by a round of betting, the three cards on the flop, another betting round, the turn card, the third betting round, and then the river card as the last card on the board.
