Stiff Meaning – A Nickname for a Bad Starting Hand in Blackjack
The term “stiff” can refer to several things, depending on the context it’s used in. Primarily, it’s commonly used in blackjack when describing a “stiff hand”, or a hand between 12 and 16.
Blackjack players never want to have a stiff hand, as they are unlikely to win if they choose to stand and likely to bust if they decide to hit.
Additionally, a stiff can be a gambler that doesn’t tip the casino staff or worse, doesn’t pay their gambling debts.
