Toke Meaning – The Amount Tipped to a Dealer After Winning a Bet

Toke is a gambling term that refers to the cash or chips that a player tips the dealer after winning a bet. This slang word is short for “tokens of appreciation”.

Tokes are common in casinos, as dealers have fairly small salaries, and tips make a considerable part of their income. The size of the toke depends on the bet sizes in the game.

For example, if you’re playing at a low-stakes table, tipping a dollar per larger win is customary. On the other hand, if you’re playing a more high-stakes table, the toke after a big win can be $10 or more dollars.
